Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.  The Clearwater Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, May 30th in honor of those heroes.

A quick reminder that Summer Reading activities really begin on June 6th.  We begin with the Read Dog here at the Library; Dog Day tickets.  Every time participant reads to the Dog, one box is checked on the Dog Day card.  When the card is complete may turn in to Tina to receive gift card to Freddy’s for one free: Frosted Lemonade (small) or Chocolate Chunk Cookie, or Milkshake (small) or Icedream Cone or cup (small).  While the younger folk are reading to the Dog, older youth can work on making a knotted blanket, if finished in time, it will be given as a Summer Reading prize.  On Wednesday Doc Gizmo will be back at the Clearwater Middle School to put on a show for us. On Friday, June 9th the older (young adult to adult) folks can do a “Wall Climbing” activity at the Wellness Center as part of the Summer Reading program.  Lots of activities coming up, hopefully lots of reading, and certainly lots of fun!

We want to extend a big “Thank you” to all that have helped or are helping to put on the Summer Reading program.  People such as; the Friends of the Library group, the CPL Youth-Books and Beyond club and many others that have donated or given to help us have a great Summer Reading program.  We are lucky to  have such a compassionate bunch of people that support the local library.
