Hope all had a safe and fun Independence Day. Just a quick reminder that Cherokee, the Read Dog will be back on Tuesday at 1:00PM and we will be working on the blankets then too. We will once again have a Story time and crafts for our younger patrons on Thursday, July 13th at 10:30AM and yes, the tent for reading is still here. On Tuesday the 11th at 10:00 we will have a sweet time at the Library! Harold the Honey Bee Keeper will be here to teach us about Bee – Keeping and Country Cookin’ will provide some rolls for a taste testing treat. Summer Reading is Sweet at Clearwater Public Library. Remember to keep looking for the hammer (congrats to Betty Batten, last week winner) and keep reading.
Do you know what a solar eclipse is? A solar eclipse happens when the moon casts shadow on Earth, fully or partially blocking the sun’s light in some areas. Observers within the path of totality will be able to see the sun’s corona (weather permitting). Observers outside this path will see a partial eclipse. There will be a total solar eclipse this year, passing through Kansas on August 21st. The next total solar eclipse visible over the continental United States will be on April 8, 2024. The Clearwater Public Library recently became a Star Net Library. We will have the Cosmosphere at our Library to do a presentation about the Solar Eclipse on August 2nd at 5:00PM. All that attend will receive one (1) paper Eclipse glasses which are NASA approved to use for the eclipse, while the supply lasts. There will also be door prizes: one (1)Yardstick Eclipse set and several Family Passes ($20.00 maximum cost) to Lake Afton Public Observatory. If any glasses are left after the event, they will be available at the Library on a first come, first serve basis. Please do not ask for glasses before the event.
Keep reading to Build a Better World and be sure to put August 2nd on your calendar to learn about the Solar Eclipse. Clearwater Public Library – Check Us Out!,
