Summer Reading 2017 and Cosmosphere are both finished. While it may appear that we are resting, I can assure you that we are busy working on ways to serve you. You know, our world is becoming increasingly complex and multi cultural. That is why I am looking forward to the “Big Read” this year which centers around an immigrants story of coming to America and our ComiCon (Neverending WorldS) that our teen club (Books & Beyond) will be holding on October 28th here at the Clearwater Public Library. I strongly encourage you to go to our Website, www.clearwaterkslibrary.org or our Facebook page to check on all the things we are doing and upcoming events.

Did you know that studies have shown that reading increases empathy. Engaging in the simulative experiences of fictions literature can facilitate the understanding of others who are different from ourselves and can augment our capacity for empathy and social inference. Some interesting facts:
• 40% of readers volunteer for non-profit organizations vs. 25% of non – readers
• 82% of reader donate money or goods to a non – profit organization vs. 66% of non – readers
So if you readers out there are looking for a place to volunteer or donate, try your local library.
