What excitement for lifelong learners. We were lucky to have State Poet Laurate Kevin Rabas here and he gave a fascinating, musical presentation. We even had a couple of folks from out of town attend it. Then Kit Ying Wong – Robertson will speak on Saturday about “Coming to America” (Kitty is an American citizen that immigrated here from China). There are a lot more Big Read events coming up in the area, check the calendar on the Library Website for more upcoming events, www.clearwaterkslibrary.org. We will have “Coming to America Part II” on at 3:00PM on Saturday, October 21st when several Cultural Ambassadors (foreign students) from Wichita State University will talk about their experiences and then on November 16th we have Matthew Sanderson from Kansas State University to discuss “Immigration in Kansas Today” to finish up our Big Read project.
Then of course there is the Comic Con coming on October 28th from 10AM to 6PM put on by the “Books & Beyond” teen club at the Library. If you would like to enter one of the contests the guidelines and forms are on the Books & Beyond page of the Library website or drop by the library and ask for Tina. We have vendors, concessions, carnival booths, workshops and demonstrations. Not something you want to miss. You can even preorder a Comic Con T-shirt that is exclusive to this Comic Con.
