Reading is a cure for loneliness. We are often weirder than we like to admit. Often we cannot say what is really on our minds. But in books and in poetry we find descriptions of who we genuinely are and what events, described in a way quite different from what ordinary conversation allows for. In the best books, it is as if the writer knows us better than we know ourselves. The writer or poet has found the words to describe the fragile, weird, special experiences of our inner lives. Poetry can open our hearts and minds. Come learn more about Poetry with the Kansas State Poet Laureate, Kevin Rabas, at the Clearwater City Chamber on October 5th at 7:00PM. This program is made possible by the Kansas Humanities Council.
